A truly ‘state-of-the-art’ centre for excellence in rehabilitation. It is wonderful to see how people with disabilities are being encouraged and empowered to live as independently as possible. The role that the team at Bagshot Park plays in supporting people who have an impairment is excellent - the team is doing a great job in giving people the best quality of life and helping to achieve their full potential.
— Excerpt from speech made by Esther McVey MP, Former Minister for Disabled People

“I could see the empathy the staff had - they really cared.

I was completely immobilised when I arrived here, I couldn’t sit up on my own, I couldn’t get out of bed, I couldn’t walk – I really did need extensive care. I was completely dependent on the team; they really took me along the right path. They were encouraging... I could see the empathy the staff had - they really cared. There wasn’t much I could do but there was so much they did for me. They really motivated me. I owe a lot of credit to the staff here - I’m more confident, I got so much motivation and praise, and now I am back home living with my wife which is all I could have ever hoped for.

“I like the friendly atmosphere.”

I lived at Crest Lodge for nine years and really enjoyed the trips to the seaside. I like the friendly atmosphere and sitting in the garden with all the lovely flowers. I now live at the Cottage but still visit regularly to see everyone and to go on the outings.

“Home was St Catherine’s.”

“I would like to thank you and all your team at St Catherine’s Manor for their kindness, compassion, understanding and friendliness shown when looking after my Mother during the last few months of her life. Only a few days before she died a couple of the residents were talking over lunch about how happy they were in St Catherine’s. Mum was asked directly by someone If she was happy to which she replied ‘I am happy’.

I would like to thank all the Nursing Staff, they used their professionalism to make the right decisions while listening to Mum’s own requests when she refused to go to hospital.

On the last occasion when Mum went into hospital the A&E staff were explaining how ill she was and to expect the worse. The following day after admittance when I went to visit her I arrived and was greeted with the first question ‘When can I go home’ and home was St Catherine’s.”

“Thank you also for the friendship and support you always gave me.”

Thank you for the kindness and care shown to my Mother whilst we was with you. You ensured that her last years were as pleasant and comfortable for her as they could be. Thank you also for the welcome, friendship and support you always gave me.

That mother lived to 105 years is... testament to the care she received.”

She seemed content with her surroundings and the attention she received. During this time your continuous attention to ‘getting things right’ did not go unnoticed. Staff were invariably cordial and helpful and offered refreshment according to the time of day.

Mother’s bedroom and en suite were always in good order, as were the general public areas open to visitors. The choice of food varied sufficiently and assistance in feeding was provided when necessary. Records of medical check-ups were available to us. Needing help with dressing, mother usually looked ‘well turned out’.

That the Holy Sacrament was available on a regular basis was a great comfort to her. Mother enjoyed very much the music provided by the piano player who always made certain that she was placed close to him. That mother lived to 105 years is, in good measure, testament to the care she received during her final years at Brownscombe. Thank you.

“The team has been fantastic in keeping me informed. ”

“I would like to just pass on my thanks and appreciation for the caring thoughtful and professional way in which Longdene staff have looked after Pam since she has been at home. The same sentiments apply previously when Pam was resident in King’s Lodge. The team has been fantastic in keeping me informed whilst at the same time being very proactive in ensuring Pam received the best treatment when needed. All the resident carers have been excellent."

“She could not have been better cared for anywhere else.”

“Thank you so much for all your kindness & support of Mum during her time with you at Surrey Heights, she was so happy and content there that we all felt she could not have been better cared for anywhere else.”

“Special thanks for the extraordinary care.”

Special thanks to the extraordinary care we received by all the staff at White Gates, and the wonderful gesture of lining the corridor on DF departure from the home.  The flower picked from the garden that went with him when he left White Gates is still in his coffin with him.
